Akemi dislikes women with a passion; if you’re of the female gender, don’t expect her to warm up to you for a very, very long time. She typically thinks of them as loud and annoying, and generally categorizes females as having no substance and thinks of them all as “girly”. She quite enjoys talking with other people and socializing, but she lacks the ability to form close relationships and trust people fully. For this reason, she doesn’t often open up to people easily. Due to her mother forgetting about family affairs, she knows how to operate the house rather well and understands how the “real world” works. In addition, she’s very good at noticing things and has an eye for detail, having the tendency to watch and observe rather than jump immediately into whatever she is doing.

Biography:

Akemi was the product of a one-night stand, one where her mother was so drunk she doesn’t even know what Akemi’s father’s face looked like. Her mother was the type of woman who fell very hard and very fast for other males, and dropped out of them just as quickly. Throughout Akemi’s life, she’s seen her mother with countless number of males, and because of this, she lost her respect for the female gender, believing that most girls are only out to get guys. She’s always wished for a solid father figure and more of a nurturing mother figure, receiving neither.

While growing up, Akemi had to be the provider for her family. Her shameless mother spent thousands of dollars on her boyfriend of the moment and could not support a small family of two living in a small apartment. Whatever little money her mother earned, she spent almost the next night. For the first ten years of Akemi’s life, she’s lived in and out of small, dinky apartments and has experienced the homeless shelter more than once. With an unreliable woman for a mom, she searched for ways to earn money with just a paper and a pen. In that way, she learned how to design when she was fifteen, securing at least a small home for herself and for her mother. Designing clothes by commission online, she made designs and sold them to manufacturers who wanted to use them. Though Akemi only made male designs (she thought girls wouldn’t be able to wear her designs well), she got many deals for them and earned just enough money to pay rent.

After living this life for four years, her mother, who had miraculously stayed with a man for over a month, ran away from what Akemi had primitively labeled her “home”. About a week after her mom disappeared, and just as she was about to start worrying, Akemi received a note from her mother.

I’m sorry for leaving you, dear. But Haruto doesn’t want to have to take care of children, and I will always look for his best interests. Take care of yourself just as you always have, and goodbye.

Though she really should have been, Akemi wasn’t upset. In fact, she felt almost liberated. Her relationship with her mother had really deteriorated over the course of her life, and now that she didn’t have to worry about her mother’s drinking, dating, and gambling habits, she had the chance to do something for herself for once. Akemi had always wanted to design something that lasted forever, a solid foundation that was beautiful that would be able to support all those who leaned on it, so she decided to attend Kamenoko University for architecture. She abandoned the dinky two bedroom apartment in the suburbs and began to rent for a slightly larger two bedroom apartment closer to the city, having saved up a bit from her commissioning days.
